Many people doubted Melvin Guillard's chances against jiu jitsu black belt Ronys Torres at UFC 109. Melvin's weakness has always been dealing with submissions. But this time, it was a different Guillard that came to the octagon. Using his outstanding striking, a strong gameplan, and new and improved jiu jitsu defense, Melvin was able to take control over the course of three rounds and bring home a big decision win. Melvin is ready for anyone in the UFC lightweight division and is looking forward to his next fight!

Guillard Loses to Diaz

Melvin Guillard dropped Nate Diaz with the first punch he threw in the main event last night at UFC Fight Night. He had Diaz on the defensive in the first round and even dropped him to the mat with two beautiful judo throws but in the end it was not enough to keep him safe from Nate's dangerous jiu jitsu game. A tight guillotine choke in the second round forced him to tap. Melvin always puts on great shows for the fans and will return!

Bad Boys at War!

Melvin Guillard and Nate Diaz are both well know to the UFC fans. Both fighters carry an extraordinary amount of disdain for their opponents and are considered the 'bad boys' of the UFC's stacked lightweight division. Every fight is a grudge match for these two so when they meet on September 16th to headline UFC Fight Night, you can expect nothing but ill will and aggression. This is as good as it gets, people!
